Irish Osbornes in Manchester
« on: 15:14:25, 31/12/15 »
I've recently joined the forum and am interested to know if anyone has any Osbornes in their family tree.

According to the records my ggggrandfather Nathaniel Wilson Osborne was born in Ireland between 1805 and 1814 and married at St Mary the Virgin in Prestwich in 1835.

He spent most of his life in Chorlton-on Medlock as a cab driver. But his son James built the business up at 75 North St, Cheetham and retired to the Isle of Man, where he died in 1913 leaving £9200.

I have no idea where in Ireland Nathaniel came from, so further research is limited.

I would be grateful for any info on other sightings of Osbornes in Manchester around 1835.

Regards,
Howard

Hi Ozn?

Yes, I have him in 1841, 51 & 61 but his birthplace is always recorded as Ireland.

Family Search doesn't have a record of him in Ireland.

He died in 1866.

Regards,
Howard

Sorry Howard using my other name....I've looked in FMP and Irish Genie with no luck.
I don't usually recco another site but I think this group could help you, especially Blue who seems to know all things about Ireland.
You can go in as a visitor...
Good luck

Yes, I've also tried FMP and I've just taken a months subscription on Rootsireland without any luck.
I'll follow up on your advice.
Many thanks.
