Have heard today that Tony Wilson has passed away, will be sadly missed as he will be remembered by Mancunians for the music scene and the Hacienda club which he formed - R.I.P.

I was sorry to hear the news of Tony's death on the radio.

Tony signed Joy Division on to his Factory record label in the late 1970s.

Paul Taylor's article about him in Manchester Evening News is headed "He put Manchester on the map."

I watched a great programme on Living TV last night called 'Living In Manchester' introduced by Tony. It was really good and it was obvious he adored the city. He will be sadly missed, I remember him in his early days on Granada Reports with Bob Greaves in the seventies, an excellent broadcaster. He visited a place known as Afflecks Palace which I think was on Oldham Street. It looked fascinating, anyone know if its still there?

yes Roy it is, I got some Beatles memorabilia there, a huge glass frame, with Cavern tickets from 1958 (Hilary Kay from Antique Roadshow, said a ticket was worth £75 - in the nineties), it has a 45" record, membership fan club, I've also got two fan club message discs (plastic)

Excellent, I must pay a visit next time I'm in town. Please tell me how I get to it from Piccadilly gardens, not that the gardens are there any more!  :)

You can go up Oldham Street, and I think it's the first big crossroad where you turn left :)

Have you been in the Oxfam charity shop on Oldham Street, they have some very collectable records?

Has anyone watched the film 24 hour party people about tony Wilson ?

If so does my one think Steve coogan just played Alan Carr ?

I don't remember tony Wilson sounding anything like that.
