The people of Newton Heath are a different, shall we say demographic, to those that occupy the areas you mentioned, they didn't go out looting, rioting and burning down the local businesses.

does anyone have memories of growing up in Newton heath in the late fifties and sixties
hi parky no im afraid I was not born then. But would love to hwahear about your experience, I am now 59 and grew up in that era whwhere murder was highlighted and newton heath was a dangerous  place to live.

Does any body remember the large Backhouse Family  and  the Doyle family nxr door. We spent  most of are youth in fear. I was 15  years old when the black panther was around, the lightbown murder and the ten acres Lane murderer, if forum us for real please get in touch. Christine x

Hi, Im eight years older than you and to people of my age Newton Heath was a wonderful place to live .I’m still in touch with one of the backhouse family ,their mother is still going strong, I don’t recall the Doyle family, the lightbowne murders and the ten acres murders were local unlike the other sadly my in laws we’re friends of the mossop family whose daughter was one of Trevor hardys victims,

I went Briscoe Lane and was in a class with a David Simmonds. Other people in the class included Brian Priday, Barbara Ryan, Brian (?) McCartney, Brenda Twist and Diane Platt. I used to live in Bayswater Avenue.

Hi I was there at briscoe lane at that time and remember all those names and more and I think I know who you are, did you have two other brothers ?,

The new houses on the site of the old Newton Heath Market are in the process of being built now.

I did have two brothers but they were born in 1946 and 1948. I lived in Bayswater Avenue off Scotland Hall Road until about 1968 when we moved to New Moston.
