flu jab.

Is it prudent to get your free Influenza vaccination. I've met a couple of people who are dead against vaccinations-they say they don't work.

Mrs parky and I have them .There is a “urban myth “ that some people get the flu after having the jab but that is nonsense it is NOT a live vaccine. To me if you are a certain age or have medical issues / compromised immune system  etc it is worth having done.

I've never had one before but I've often felt that I should. Two close friends of mine had influenza in the past (they were both aged about 28 at the time) and each of them said they felt so horribly ill they would have thanked anybody who walked in and promised to shoot them dead. Not pleasant, by the sound of it.

And the flu jabs are completely harmless, and they almost always work. Don't listen to the bloke in the pub or any of the other clock & bull merchants. If you're thinking of having one this year, just do it!

IMO its a lottery, which virus you catch. Sometimes I have the jab sometimes not and have had both jab and flu or neither.

I've had it done. On balance I think the benefits outweigh the risks. After 65 your neutrophils don't work as well as they did when you were younger. So your immune system needs some help. I was recently admitted to hospital with pneumonia -so I'm sure I've done the right thing. Thanks for the advice.

Should the mercury contained in the flu jab be allowed to be injected into the blood stream?

...still undecided.  :-\

I do believe that there is very little -if at all- mercury in the modern day flu vaccine.
