the atmosphere is very continental isn't it, lots of conversation in a mix of languages, very lively as well, it reminds me of when I am abroad and everyone gathers in the town square in the evening, whilst over here it's like a 'curfew' in the evenings really isn't it?

I'll bet the atmosphere is great when its dark and all the chalets are lit up. Were there many folk there in the evening, it was heaving Sunday afternoon.  :)

quite a lot of people round the cider stalls - you could smell that and the punch from the Midland Hotel, and where there were seats it was quite full, little pockets of people, but it's much more fun in  the evenings, so do go if only to compare

Yep I saw that, it was near the little pancakes, looked very interesting. I like the stall that has the clocks and coasters made from record labels, I suppose I should have bought one...........  ;)

Feeling Festive?

For a truly festive experience visit the magical Manchester Christmas Markets.

Considered to be amongst the best in Britain and Europe the markets transform the City with their charming traditional wooden chalets.

You cannot help but get into the Christmas spirit whilst browsing around the bustling stalls, soaking up the unique atmosphere beneath the twinkling lights with the aroma of hot chestnuts filling the air.

Due to their popularity the markets have now expanded to 5 locations in Manchester City Centre.

Every year there are new attractions for visitors to see - the most recent being a 6m high Weihnactspyramide  (a giant German Christmas Pyramid with Nativity scene), which sits on top of the German Beer Tent and a magical Alpine House which is traditionally decorated and houses a giant multilingual talking reindeer!
