PICCADILLY GARDENS STOP AND SEARCH
« on: 19:30:43, 20/09/07 »

Posted details of my stop and search trauma a while back - here is my attempt to analyse why the gardens do attract me so often and why the stop and search spoils it for me - still waiting for the reply from the police to my official complaint on the matter.

Enjoyed reading that :)...what is it coming to if people can't, like you say, "sit and be" in public gardens! :(

There was a case in our local papers about a recently convicted paedophile ring...and much was made in court, and in the papers, about one individual's exemplary record of public service...it was as if they could not see (or didn't want to) that it was all a smoke screen for these activities which he had been carrying on all along. No one challenges the 'Great and the Good' until it is much too late!! :(
Let us know when you get your apology Arthur and we will have a virtual party on here!! :) :) :)

Cheers Celeste - have applied to a few newspapers - not expecting too much though - applied for membership of the National Union of Journnalists years ago - didn't get in - my hand-writing is illegible to most people so I expectthey couldn't read my responses to the test articles I had to write there - if i'd been able to type them as i would have to anyway with actual submitted copy i'd have walked it.

I may well do - been writing directly to the papers for now though. Cheers. AC

Have just been watching the Matthew Wright Show, and the caller said she was taking photos of her children in the swimming pool at a holiday camp, and someone asked for her camera and took the film out!!!

That's happening a lot - looked up the Piccadilly fountains online and found references to a chap being beaten up for being seen taking pictures there - my troubles are over being there without a camera because the police felt I was  there too long and often for their  liking.  They initially claimedthat I was seentaking pictures - obviously hoping I had a camera - (must be odd not to haveone inthis camera phone obsessed age) No reply to date to my complaint aboutthat - today is the last day they should reply  to me by acording to their own complaints commission - just waiting for the post to arrive this morning. (which itself gets later by the day) If it isn't with this morning's delivery I'm sending a follow up complaint about their lack of regard for such reccomended proceedures.  There is so much social paranoia out there now. It's scary. AC

Can you imagine the trouble tourists are going to get into?  It might be worth popping into the Tourist Information Centre to broach this subject, also the Tourist Board before we have a national complaints bureau being established for this sort of abomination ::)

Shouldn't they have a huge notice saying ' No Camera please in this area' - or are they just being PERVERSE!!!

It is getting that way - the idea seems to be that you must not be somewhere where children are present unless you have family yourself or you risk being labelled as a paedo, something which carries huge stigma and danger in any community.  Taking pictures that even risk having kids in the backgroud could be fatal - some people have even been arrested for taking shots of their own kids - it used to be that you could take shots of your infant children in the bath to embarress them with in later years when they bring their partners to meet the family - having such shots on file now could put you behind bars.
