NHS Nurse, 58, who 'threw a sickie so she could get the blood cleaned off the seats of her Mercedes after her son kneecapped a love rival with a shotgun' faces up to ten years in jail
Vincenzo De Falco 'kneecapped' Jonathan Smith in back of mother's Mercedes
Court heard he called girlfriend to ask NHS nurse mum Patricia Dean for help
Dean called in sick and took car, hired for her by NHS, to be deep cleaned
But investigating officers later found blood from Mr Smith, an ex-lover of De Falco's girlfriend, on seals of the car
Dean denied involvement but was found guilty of assisting an offender
A mental health nurse is facing up to ten years in jail after she cleaned up a crime scene for her own son after he shot and wounded a love rival in her NHS-funded company car.
Patricia Dean, 58, called in sick at work to clear up after 28-year-old Vincenzo De Falco kneecapped Jonathan Smith with a shotgun at point blank range as the victim sat in the back of the Mercedes sports model that his mother often loaned him.
As police hunted her son, Dean, a specialist mental health nurse at a Manchester hospital, had the car undergo a full valet and deep clean at a car wash to remove traces of Mr Smith's blood.
A court heard she then left the vehicle, which had been hired for her by the NHS, at the home of her unwitting sister in the hope police would not be able to find it.
A Mercedes sports car paid for by the NHS? Nice work if you can get it.
