Hi Maureen, that would be fantastic, thank you.  If you'd like I'll send you the story of my relative who was the Mother General at the turn of the 20th Century and started the Rescue there. I dont think it will allow me to post an email address, so its dumvoc   and then its the "at" symbol gmail.com   Hope that makes sense
regards Ian

Hi
Just come across this thread.

Takes be back in time.

St Joseph's Home was off Worsley Road and Miller Street.
Looking at the map it now looks like some sort of a modern build hostel.

I lived in the next street, on Athol Street, in the 1950's and delivered newspapers as a schoolboy.
I used to meet a nice girl somedays from the home who also delivered papers. Would probably be around 1958ish

I have a relative that would of been at the home somewhere between 1940-1950. Do you know where the records are stored for the children who were given to St Joseph’s? Thank you

Hi Tony. My dad and his sister were inmates here in the 1920's. Do you know when the home was built and are there any intake records from the 1920's

 Hiya Maureen,

I come across your post whilst researching St Joseph's Children's Home and noticed that you said that you have pictures of the home. Apologies if I am overstepping the mark, but are you willing to share 1 or 2 please.  I have searched – and searched, but cannot find any.  Likewise, I don’t suppose you know where I can find records from the home.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Paul

Hi just saw your message there are a few photos on this site already, if you go on Manchester genealogy and scroll down to earlier st Joseph home messages I exchanged some messages with Andrew probably in 2022. some photos are on there. Most of my photos are inside of the home and the children who resided there dated around 1940s/50s.

Hi

I used to go to St. Joseph’s in Patricroft. I remember Fr. McCormack. He used to do loads of little tricks with lollipop sticks. He was a really lovely priest.

My name is Anne Bowes was Barden. I had a sister called Bridget.
