Old Manchester Cafe on Corporation Street
« on: 15:46:47, 02/02/19 »
Hi everybody, can anybody help with the name of a cafe that used to be located on the corner of Todd Street and Corporation Street.  I used to go there as a kid in the late sixties, I seem to remember it had massive red leatherette seats and the hamburgers were massive.  Happy Days!

Hi Zephyr.
Was it something like Espresso Bongo? It was next door to Ralph's records I think.

Hi there, many thanks for the reply, yes the name Expresso does ring a bell?  I seem to remember that each table had a box for operating the main Jukebox, i seem to remember that The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel was the big hit of that period?  I was looking the other night at a copy of a Chris Makepeace publication the other night it contained a photo showing the juction of Corporation Street and Todd Street, the cafes Pepsi Cola sign was just visible.

No problem, it sounds right to me, I was always in the record shops in town back then, Ralph's was one of them.
