A 5m scheme to make Greater Manchester safer for cyclists and pedestrians by removing street furniture and making some streets one-way has been revealed.
Mayor Andy Burnham said the money would help make more room for social distancing and improve safety as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
The region has seen a 22% rise in cycle journeys since the lockdown began.
The mayor also warned the area's tram network could still be mothballed, despite a government bailout of 11.6m.

Councils claim to be skint when demanding more cash from ratepayers, they dont mind making pensioners poorer.
Suddenly they can find some to help the Airport through the crisis.
Politicians and nappies must be changed often, and for the same reason

At present the Council are putting up homeless people in 250 night hotel rooms, it'll be interesting at turfing out time, maybe Aintree Andy will stick that on the council tax payers too.  ::)
Another pet project he'll find money for, nowt down for the people that actually pay though.

What do you bet that most of the people who vote in the council election don't know that.

E-scooter trials are being fast tracked in order to allow their use on public roads, it's not enough that drivers and pedestrians have to dodge the lycra louts on bicycles.
