A permanent memorial to the 22 victims of the Manchester Arena bombing will be a garden space, the council has announced.
The plans involve a stone 'halo' centrepiece bearing the names of the victims, after input from families.
It forms part of a scheme by the city council to improve the Medieval Quarter, near Manchester Cathedral.
Council leader Sir Richard Leese said the garden would be a "tranquil space" used all year round.
The council also asked people to stay at home to pay tribute, ahead of the third anniversary of the attack on 22 May.
Prayers and readings will be live streamed through Manchester Cathedral's Facebook page.

The arena bombing was "forever etched in our minds", the Dean of Manchester said as he led a live-streamed memorial service to mark the third anniversary of the attack.

Twenty-two people were killed and hundreds injured in the suicide bombing at the end of an Ariana Grande concert.
Those watching the video stream were invited to light remembrance candles.

Rogers Govender led the prayers and read out the names of those who died, as hundreds watched the service online.
He said "that awful day" was more poignant this year as families could not be together "for comfort and support" due to coronavirus restrictions, but added "we stand with you in solidarity".
Another service will be streamed on Manchester Cathedral's Facebook page at 16:30 BST.

Very sad day, but you know what? I wish the media would remember that 21 other innocents were murdered on that day, not just Martin Hett, just sayin'.  ???

Know exactly where your coming from ,I would doubt that the media will not publish or broadcast words from the majority of those poor families in case they say what they really feel about the type of people who commit these atrocities
