Yet another knifing in Piccadilly gardens ,let’s face it it’s never going to be like it was fifty plus years ago so why not just scrap it , possibly be better to just build on it

They have done, haven't they? Our kids think the fountains that rise out of the paving stones are absolutely brilliant, but I remember how beautiful it used to be.  :-[

The wall is being demolished as part of £10m redevelopment plans.
Mr Karney said it was "a mistake" that the wall, designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, was built in 2002.

He said: "Our pledge to the public is that we are going to get it right this time. We want what everyone in Manchester wants, to look on the gardens with affection and pride."
Some of the structure, which is attached to a privately-owned building, will remain for now and proposals for the area, which include extended gardens and improved lighting, will be published in two weeks.
Work to demolish the free standing wall is expected to be completed this week.

Karney now thinks that a large piece of 'the wall' should be put in a museum for posterity because after some left wing loon wrote that stupid slogan on it, it became a symbol of 'when we made a stand', lmao  ;D , that jumped up little twerp has some cojones to believe he speaks for the people of Manchester, he needs to concentrate on his ward, Harpurhey, and the people that for some reason voted for him over and over again.  ::)

A flower market, flowers all the year round and gorgeous plants, they could be watered by one or two of the fountains
