legends nightclub manchester

I have great memories about Legends :)I'm not too sure which street it was on I think Princess. It wasn't much to look at but the music was brilliant. I remember seeing Rick Astley performing his first single in there and him looking very awkward. I also remember a wicked soul night with Mike Shaft just aafter Christmas about 1986

The club is still there but has been renamed as 5th Avenue and can be found at 121 Princess Street.

Thursday night used to be Legends night, Friday was the Banshee, Saturday was Placemates (Room 1) Sunday stay local, Monday was the Ritz, Tuesday The Playpen (now 42nd Street) Wednesday the Berlin. I also used to go to Cloud 9 and hung around the Manchester Underground, in the days before Affleck's Palace

Also hung around Affleck's Palace watching the TV at the entrance, nudge nudge

Those were the days

I remember we used to try to get in when we were at school! Mike Shafts radio show was cool.

Blimey!

You all sound so young.

Don't suppose anyone danced in the Roxy Room at Pip's Disco?

I used to go to legends on a Thursday night great times if I fell down them steps once I did a million times.  Used to go with a gang of girls and lads dressed really outrageous I had black hair with red tips in the shape of a fan gosh those were the days.. Used to go to Devilles on saturdays nights cannot remember where on a Fridays but never stayed in oh and the Ritz mondays.  Hung around with sue, ruth, anne, john, simon, andy and loads of others, my brain doesnt work as well as it did. I remember when the Ritz first opened on mondays and they still had the dance floor that moved (god it made you feel well drunk) cos they used to do ballroom aswell on different nights.  Then they changed it to a flat floor shame really.
