1960s Music scene in Manchester
« on: 04:57:25, 31/05/08 »
The Manchester area has nurtured thousands of musical acts, ranging in styles as diverse as Freddie and The Dreamers and Oasis. Although many have been adopted on a national scale, others have managed to stir only local interest before their eventual demise

Are you able to add info to the site - memories of groups, clubs, venues, music shops, anything! You don't have to have been in a group - just lived and clubbed around Manchester area in the 60s!! Any contributions always gratefully received and noted.

Noticed you used the word 'group' - when did they start calling themselves a 'band'?

He is very talented - and not bad looking either, do you think he is better than Morrissey?

'Don't look back in anger' is a hit song by Oasis, it does have a moral as you say

Manchester has raised so many brilliant bands/groups and lyricists its hard to know where to start. but as your subject matter is the music scene in manchester in the 1960s I am slightly at a loss. My dad did take me to the Twisted Wheel club when i was very little, probably where my love of soul comes from now. Nice to know its being re-opened.
Peter Noone went to the same school as my mum.. as did Umberto who is/was a DJ on Piccadilly radio now Magic.

I wondered where Umberto had gone, welcome to the forum Lorna, do you know waht James Stannidge is doing now, he and Umberto used to work at the same radio station in the nineties.
