A Celbration of British Country Music
« on: 19:00:53, 10/06/08 »

On 18th October 2008, a special event will be held in Tameside, Greater Manchester, which has been named
“A Celebration of
British Country Music”.

This will be an “all-day event”, from 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.,  and will feature 4 of the best 4/5-piece country bands from the North of Britain, with 6 hours of live country music, and some good recorded country music between acts.

The idea for the event came from various discussions during 2007, to try and increase the general awareness and acceptability of modern British Country Music not only to the present Country audiences, but also to music lovers in general.
So if you appreciate good live music, but have not previously been to a British Country Music event, give it a chance, and we’re sure you’ll have a really enjoyable day.
The bands have been chosen to provide a good variation of modern country music, with an emphasis on self-penned music and the lesser-performed material, which should appeal to a wide range of music tastes, and hopefully will go some way toward changing the general perception of Country Music in Britain.

The bands in order of appearance will be:
Settlers Creek, a 4-piece band from Blackpool, playing modern country covers, and including a selection of the band’s original material.
Brian Hughes and the Lonesharks, a 5-piece band (guitars, drums and keyboard) from Scotland, playing mainly original material from Brian, with a few covers.
Buchanan , a 5-piece band (guitars, drums and steel guitar) from Manchester, playing mainly the band’s original material (including tracks from their 2007 album of the year – “The Picture”)
Raising Cain, a 5-piece Country Rock band (guitars, drums and keyboard), from Cumbria and the North East, playing a unique selection of covers, with a number of the band’s originals.
Each of the bands are recording a new CD, and all are expected to be available during late summer.

The venue is the George Lawton Hall, Mossley, Tameside (OL5 0HR), situated in East Manchester, near Oldham, with easy access from the local motorway network.. There will be a fully licensed bar, large dance floor, with hot & cold food available.

Advance bookings for the event are now being taken, at £15 adult and £8 for accompanied children (11-16).

Just a reminder that there's less than 3 weeks to the event.

If you like excellent, well played live music, then this gig is for you.

The bands will be playing their own original modern exciting Country Rock and Country Music, with some classics thrown in from such as the Eagles, Garth Brooks, Jim Croce, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyd Skynyrd, etc.

They are all great musicians and performers, and are all coming together for this one-off show of some of the best British Country Rock/Country Bands from the North of Britain.

Buchanan(from Manchester) won an award for Album of the Year last year, and Brian Hughes won the Album of the Year this year.

You may think it's not your type of music, but these are bands that normally only play at specialist events, so the general music fans won't come across them.

Give it a go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
