John Dalton Street
« on: 13:33:43, 03/07/08 »
Does anybody remember the name of the bookshop that used to be on John Dalton Street during the eighties? It was on the left-hand side as you walk towards Deansgate. It's closed down now. It may well have become another bookshop under a new name when it closed but it's what it was called twenty years ago that I'm after.

Thanks!

was it a famous name like Sherratt & Hughes, or Foyles?

There's a bookshop off Mosley Street called Gibbs (could have moved)

I think you've hit the nail on the head with Sherratt & Hughes, celeste. Although the penny didn't drop with a resounding crash, I'm pretty sure it's right.

Many thanks!

I'm fairly sure the bookshop on John Dalton Street was called Willshaw's.
Sherratt & Hughes was on St. Ann's Square before Waterstones took over.
