Yes, did your school have any idiosyncracies?

it was one big idiosyncrasy - stupidity and uselessness of the studying process...

it's got even futhere now. children are being taught by my generation's teachers (see the line above) and children are being judged by their parent's wealth and everything ends up connected with money... not with knowledges...

well I was educated at a private school to the age of eleven, I then went to a Grammar School, and I found that it was really of no advantage having gone to a private school, as the girls who hadn't were just as clever as myself, and some more so

the only thing I'm sure in is that I or You should thoroughly control what is going on at our kids' school. And be involved in this process somehow...

No, but I do not my kids to be bullied by a teacher for instance. And I ought to prevent it. You know, a kid could hide it from me because of fear or smth...

There are signs when a child is being bullied, they go very quiet and withdrawn, and sometimes their behaviour at home can become aggressive  and irrational.

I despise bullies, have just read about a girl who was bullied by her so-called friends for being too thin, making jokes about her being 'anorexic' wasn't bullying to them.

Exactly! I mean kids are so sensitive. And even tiny downs can cause irreversible consequences...

I would have thought 'My Dad's meeting me from  school' would be enough

It's just a coincidence that your school and teachers were good. But it might have been another way round! :)
I judge by myself - if anyone had controlled me those days, I would have become a better one.

I was coming home from prep school one day, and this boy pushed a snowball in my face,  I never told anyone, but I started to fight with my older brother, to get strong and this gave me strength and confidence, I was never bullied, and if I saw anyone being bullied I would stop it.

People don't step in quickly enough.

Well - you see it - you can be changed by someone else. And this wouldn't necessarily be a good change...

Not always I agree, and it's easier for children to protect themselves physically, but in the case of the thin girl she was being bullied by quite a few of her friends
