Cathedral marriage pls.explain
« on: 06:44:40, 27/09/08 »
:) Hello I'm trying to find out the meaning of an entry I found on LancsBMD and hope that someone will be able to explain it to me. This is what was entered:

"The list below will show both husband/wife and wife/husband combinations for all the entries that match your chosen reference number.

SurnameForename(s)SurnameForename(s)Church / Register OfficeRegisters AtReference

DAWSONJames    EVANSSusannah   ManchesterCATH/104/58

DAWSONJames    LANCASTERSusannah         ditto

EVANSSusannah    DAWSONJames                    ditto

LANCASTERSusannah    DAWSONJames             ditto

I might be missing something here, but it looks to me as though James DAWSON married both Susannah LANCASTER and Susannah EVANS on the same day!!!  All same date and reference.

Look forward to being put in the clear about this. My interest is with Susannah LANCASTER.

Thanks,
OzzieJoan

I think it means that there is a possibility that they were married before and show them marring as there maiden name and then second married name. I am sure if you email the GRO the will confirm this.
I'm a bit like Marmite
