Free Heritage walk!

Another free guided walk to highlight the hidden – and not so hidden – gems of Manchester’s heritage.

 Sunday 22nd February 2009,

12pm at The Edgar Wood Centre,
Daisy Bank Road.

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and places are limited!
 
An experienced Blue Badge Guide will lead this family-friendly walk, taking in sites of cultural, historical and architectural significance on 22nd February.
 
Meet at the Edgar Wood Centre (Formally the First Church of Christ the Scientist)
Daisy Bank Road, Victoria Park, Manchester. 12pm
 
The route
From The Edgar Wood Centre to Victoria Baths and then St.Mary’s hospital, both on Hathersage Road. Then across Oxford Road to the Whitworth Art Gallery.
 
Activities
Victoria Baths
Learn about the history and take a look inside the magnificent Edwardian building including the Turkish Bath and intricately stained glass windows.
The Whitworth Art Gallery
Take part in an optional craft activity based on the current exhibitions and enjoy free refreshments at the café.
 
The walk from the Edgar Wood Centre to the Whitworth Art Gallery is less than a mile. The tour including all activities will last approx 2 hours.
 
Public Transport Info
Daisy Bank Road is located just off the A34 Anson Rd, which is well serviced by the number 50 bus.
Alternatively, the 41, 42 and 43 stop on Oxford Rd, from here the Edgar wood Centre is a short walk down Oxford Place, across Anson Road to Daisy Bank Road.
