I first encountered the word AVRO during the war wnen we would see aircraft fuselages or wings being transported from Chadderton.  Because I knew someone that worked in the Avroe factory I learned that the aircraft parts were from the Avro factory and were for the Avro Anson Bombers

AVRO Aviation, as did Fairey Aviation, played a great part maintaining the war effort..
