I haven't been there since we moved down here. When we go back up North it's more to Manchester Manchester, Wigan (where my father came from and returned to before he passed away) and more recently The Lake District which we have only just discovered. I love Grassmere and Ambleside and Windermere. I have a large framed photo on my kitchen wall of the view overlooking Waterhead, Ambleside. When I am feeling fed upI just gaze at that picture "and then I don't feel so bad!" (and then I pull the whiskers off kittens ;D)

village, did you know Manchester United have their new training ground at Carrington. There used to be fields where my sister and her friends used to go potato picking or something for money, remember that?

Village...you will love Windermere! Go to Coniston as well.....the Gondola is wonderful and there is lots about Donald Campbell and Bluebird if you are interested. (Please don't let this be an opportunity for Christopher to post the complete History of The National Trust and The World Water Speed Record!! :))
