The worst is the public transport system, especially trying to get to North Manchester (Oldham Road buses) atweekends - nightmarish. - The best is the variety of nightlife

whereabouts in North Ma nchester do you have to get to?  Is it possible to get metro tram to Bury and get a bus from there?  Are they still doing the tram link to Ashton-Under-Lyne?

Moston,  the Lightbowne area is between the 88/89 route and the Dean Lane side wherethe 82 would stop  - not onthe metro lines though rumours are that we will get a metro line one day - South Manchester has abetter all night bus service - drunken passengers not withstanding - I'm in Limboo here public transport wise. Sadly, I don't drive.

Neither do I, you'll have to get to know someone who does, it's worth paying half the petrol.  Are you out a lot in the week?  Can be very expensive.

I tend to use bus wekly saver tickets if I'm going around alot - I get used to it - on nights when I stay out I resign myself to long taxi waiting, -  most nights I just travel back beforethe last bus goes - It's worseon sundays as the buses thend to finish early and New Year was a nightmare - the buses finished at 7 PM from Moston - the bar I was going to, FAB Cafe, wasn't open until 8 PM, so I ended up going early and finding a kebab house to stay warm for the hour in between - got a cab back at double fare

is that because you get bored at home, or you were spent up after buying presents, worn out, fancied a change?

I had family and friends round, and generally, xmas eve is amatuer night with pubs full of people trying out strong drinks they are not used to  - someone who drinks a few lagers suddenly goes on double vodkas - it usually ends up like a scene from a george romero zombie film - i tend to hibernate and avoid it

a lot of people hate xmas and new year for various reasons, it gets expensive even having a big family, I avoid having too many people round, too much pressure and have done it all before.  Me and my two sons went out to Hotel in Bowdon and had a great time, probably go next year as it had everything, DJ  - who organized quiz, games , a bingo game whereby if he called a number and it was on your card you had to sit down , last up won, music , dancing fab food and prizes.
