I remember it - I DJ'd there for a short time when there weren't many girl dj's around!  Would have been early '80's  ...

Was it on Oxford Rd near St Peters Sq? I think one of my brothers used to strut his stuff in there

Rotters was Romanoffs (Oxford Street) opposite another club
Was it previously a cinema called the Gaumont though :-\

The club opposite was Fagins.Rotters is now a Chinese Restaurant, although that might have recently closed as well.Fagins is just offices.

I think you are thinking of The Portland Bars.

Just been on Google and it does refer to 'The Long Bar' being on the Great Bridgewater Street side of the Gaumont.(That is the road that further down has the Peverill of the Peak pub).
Pictures were great and ironic, showing the old Tram lines that used to run down Oxford Street-now they are just about everywhere in the City Centre-apart from Oxford Street!!.
I never went to the Long Bar,as best as I recall-The Temple of Covenience is a pup within the scale of things as it has only been open a few years-not sure how many though. But as we know before it became a pup it was a convenience.

If I remember rightly the long bar was under the Gaumont Cinema and ran the full Length of the building . Fagins was directly opposite the Gaumont  and you went down the stairs .
