Yes, it was 173, Wilmslow Rd....there's a short Video of the interior on Youtube, struggling with the link, but search for "Ganns of Rusholme" should find it.

Yes I noticed it was decimal prices, so it was after February 1971

Gosh, I must have been in there so many times,
eaten so many goodies,
Love all the boxes of chocs on the walls,
Don't see that these days,  more is the pity

Used to love the Easter eggs in the window,
Used to Bagsie mine

Such lovely memories, thank you

We lived about 2 miles away in East Rd, Longsight....but for 2 weeks every year, we looked after the shop while they were on Holidays. "Kid in a sweet shop" ? Oh yes.....  :)

Great picture, do you know what shops were either side of your Aunties and uncle's? I reckon most shop owners took one picture of their shop we prob could line them up and recreate Winslow Rd in 60s and before.
Love interior video as well on earlier post,I was back in the 60s as a child walking down Wilmslow Road when I saw that!

Danish Bacon shop one side, and, in the 70s, I think a kids clothes shop the other...this pic is much older (in fact, dated April 1958...the month and year I was born !).
PS...go to the Manchester Image Archive and try a search (in the 1st box) of "Rusholme Wilmsow Road" ...will bring up loads of pics, link below

Yes these pictures are great.Part of M/C archive where every street was photographed between 1958 and 70.
Some names of shops I had forgotten but came straight back to me when I looked at them.
One shop which came later but is much remembered by me as I bought my first single there is Marshall's record shop.Trying to remember how much it cost!!
