Choral Singing in Manchester
« on: 00:50:57, 25/03/07 »
The Manchester University Chorus was founded in 1936 and continues today with the same mission with
which it began. The Chorus aims to bring the joy of choral singing to all - irrespective of age or experience.

The Manchester Girls Choir, formed in 1961, is one of the longest established girls choirs in the UK. The Choir has achieved many prizes in competition, at local, national and international festivals with notable success at the highest choral levels when the choir gained awards at the ‘Arezzo Choral Competition (Italy), Radio 3’s ‘Let The People Sing’, BBC TV North West’s ‘A Grand Sing’ and the coveted International Trophy at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in the Ladies Choir class and Youth Choirs class.

The Manchester Boys Choir was formed in 1981. Since its formation the choir has earned itself an international reputation. Everywhere it appears, whether in the UK or overseas, the choir draws favourable comments from audiences and critics alike on its professionalism in performance and the sheer beauty of its sound.
