Not as many as there would be if the tv tax was spent else where by the people who earn it, rather than the billion and odd a year for the bbc.

The lack of effective opposition from other parties means that town hall bosses in manchester think they are ‘untouchable’ and are given ‘carte blanche’ to act as they wish.

That's the problem with manchester council.

Iwon,t keep banging on about voteing, but i will say that men and women gave up their liberty and some their lives sothat we could vote or withdraw our labour, and i feel it is disrespectfull to ignore their sacrifices.                                                                                    Did you know that Ricky Tomlinson was sentanced to 5 yrs for his part in a strike, it was reclassed as a crime against the state, more or less a terrorist, and he cant get a retrial.

I think he got handed two years after his involvement with pickets.  Something about intimidation - presumably of strike breakers.  He's still trying to get it reviewed.
It's nice to be important, but it's also important to be nice.

>Ricky the racist , In 1968 he joined the National Front in support of less immigration after Enoch Powell's Rivers of Blood speech.

>His views gradually changed over time and in 1972 he joined the flying pickets in a building workers' dispute in Shrewsbury.

>In 1973, Tomlinson was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of 'conspiracy to intimidate' as one of the so-called Shrewsbury Two.

> After his release in 1975, he disrupted the TUCconference by shouting from the wings after he had been prevented from speaking from the stage. It was revealed in 2002 that MI5 had monitored him during the 1970s.

Seems to me he went from any extreme to another.

For to long people vote like sheep and relect labour councillors , in the meantime manchester especially the north has been run down and in some areas ground into poverty and crime.

Its not only a problem in Manchester, other councils have similar problems
