'This talk will deal with the effects of the Troubles on the lives of Irish Catholic people in London. The main questions asked is: Why did the Irish in London not significantly engage with Irish or mainstream politics during the 1970s?
Most of the work carried out in this area has focused on the negative effects of police attention under the PTA and backlashes from the British media and public.[/size]It has been contended that these factors prevented the Irish in Britain from developing a political voice in the 1970s.
