Manchester Soul Scene in the 1960'S
« on: 13:02:39, 03/04/07 »

Hi
I am currently researching my dissertation - title is "How did American Soul music impact British Popular music culture during the 1960's"

I would welcome any stories or events that you recall when you attended the Twisted Wheel or any similar clubs that could be used as part of my research work. Any work that I do use will be referenced to its contributor

Thanking you in advance

John Jones

i note the same post on the sheffield forum. one thing i will say about soul/motown
is that it was slow to catch on. You could get great bargains for instance the four tops/ the temptations diana ross& the supremes all on the same bill, playing to near empty theatres. saw edwin starr at the wheel, but most kids at that time wanted pop music or evan better mod music, the who, smallfaces etc
