Catholic school supplier on John Dalton Street
« on: 17:37:09, 24/08/13 »
I attended St Peters ( now St Monica's) at prestwich in 1966-1971.
Does anyone recall the name of the shop that supplied the school  uniforms and priest robes, in fact anything that was  " catholic related" on John Dalton Street , very close to the Albert Square junction.
St Peters insisted any pupils HAD to get uniform from this pace and no doubt took a " back hander" from the supplier. That's not very catholic I suppose. Ha a

The one you mention would probably be D. A. Neville & Co, Ltd, ecclesiastical and school outfitters, 39 John Dalton Street.

(No 39 was the second shop down from Albert Square)

Rosenfields at Shudehill was the shop that you got uniform for St Joseph's RC High School, Sandgate Rd, Whitefield (Joey's), whose pupils also ended up at St Monica's.  My brothers were there when the big swap to the new site took place.
