Hello, I am new to this Forum. I don't know if any of you can help me.
I am 21 and finished my A levels last year, because I took 2 years out after my GCSEs. Last year, I was about to embark on a degree course in Music Management at Manchester City College, but for family reasons I had to stay in London. Me and my partner are now moving to Manchester from London in Mid July/ August.
I am an absolutely massive fan of Funky House and Dance Music and know that I need to work within this industry. This year, I had work experience at Ministry of Sound and at Gusto Records. Having talked to people within the industry, and my situation now, I hope to be looking for an Office Junior type post, in which I can work my way up. The reason for this is as I am aware that in most Labels, Work Experience does not last too long and so you are never really able to prove yourself to the company, and I want to be challenged and work hard. Obviously I am aware that the jobs are hardly glamorous when you start and quite tedious, but am happy to work my way up, as Dance music is my passion... I also need to find somewhere in which I can at least be paid minimum wage, as my parents have kindly helped me up until now, but will be stopping very shortly. I have very good GCSE and A level results, and some Dance label work experience behind me, but now I am moving to Manchester, I am stuck..
I have been searching the internet trying to find Manchester based Dance music labels, and up until now, I have only found All around the world (based in Blackburn) and 3am records, both of which I will be emailing. I am shocked, as having spent a few months in Manchester last year, I am aware that Dance music is huge there.
If anyone knows of either more Dance Music Labels in Manchester or any ideas on what to do next, I would be really happy to hear from you!
Thanks alot for your time !
