Ica'nt think of another product where the manufacturer has complete control, try to solve a problem and they quickly try to sell you something.   Even cars ,if the computer goes, you've had it.

yeah if people dont know a lot about computers and you take it to say a more unscrupolous place, they can sell you additions etc
lots of decent independents wont, and if something additional needs doing they will advise, NOT sell

It's the makers you turn to first that bug me, like HP ,computer and printer, their advice program may shunt you off to buy a driver download. Microsoft said,"there may be a problem and you may get it again" some help there,ha.
I couldn't find the printer wizard, that solved it last time, the ones found, no use.
EE tried  but gave up as Icould'nt get a shared screen with him, [not my fault]
It was my new printer that wanted connection and I found a way by downloading Java off line, uninstalled the old and the new more or less connected itself. I think!!.        The damn PC still said no device found @ no prob.

Do you have a Laptop that plays your own DVD's?
Is it on an old system?
Mine wont,is there a way?

My laptop stopped functioning last night so I'm surprised that I've managed to get online this morning

My old PC was a good though expensive one,even played cd,then it went blue screen.
If someone steps in to help,I tend to step back,so a new more update one was suggested.
A Dell was set up [pics with held] and over the last 2 yrs I must have done stupid stuff to it.
On some apps,it never holds a full page,goes into letterbox view mode or pages dont fit the screen,thats maddening.
I thought Dell were good,now I wish I'd never heard of it.
Most of fam use Apple.
Ce have you a spare mouse or do you use one,could be time for a change/new. Just changed mine and there are not many on sale at PC World.[wired]
