My great grandparents William and Eunice GAUNT, migrated from Staffordshire around 1900 They lived at first at 57 Forbes Street, W. Gorton, the 238 Hyde Rd, W. Gorton and finally at 52 William Street W . Gorton

We [the Gaunts] originate in Derbyshire, through Staffordshire into Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire as well as Manchester.

I got the years down off FreeBMD. I guessed it might be Middleton [part of the Oldham Reg area.]


There are quite a few [related] Gaunts, in the area, descendants of the above.


Searching far distant ancestors is easier than the closer ones sometimes.

I'm a bit late to this. My great grandad and great grandma were Thomas Edward Gaunt and May Fouldes. They had 3 children, Tom, Albert and Mary. Thomas, Tom and Albert went to war and Mary stayed with neighbours and May passed away in 1924. I don't know the full details but I know my grandad always tried to find her when I was younger, don't know how they lost touch.
