David Beckham

David Beckham will play in a charity football match at Old Trafford with Sir Alex Ferguson managing a side of sporting stars.

Beckham made the announcement to Nick Grimshaw on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

"It's something I've very excited about," he said.

"I retired three years ago and I never thought I'd actually be getting my boots out again and playing. It's amazing."

For 11 years David Beckham was a member of Ferguson's Manchester United team, but the pair had an acrimonious split in 2003 after the Scot accidentally kicked a boot that struck the former England captain above his left eye.
