Music and Notoriety
« on: 01:24:47, 04/08/07 »
Manchester is a noteable showcase for music and nightlife
which bands are homegrown and how do they relate to the local scene ??
Working forwards from the 1960's forwards can you list a sort of chronological progression ?

I could not do the same for Liverpool or London with any degree of confidence.... :-\

Hard to remember but perhaps people can fill in the gaps

Have checked this out 1960's - The Hollies,  Hermans Hermits, Freddie and the Dreamers, Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders

1970's -

1980's- The Smiths (with Morrissey)  The Stone Roses,

1990's - as above, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Take That

2000+ Oasis, Take That

Elkie Brook's brother was Tony Mansfield, lead guitarist with Billy J Kramer's band, his real name is Tony Bookbinder
