Amber Arcades is coming to The Harley
« on: 15:24:24, 09/11/16 »
Amber Arcades return to Sheffield in January, this time playing at our intimate home of The Harley.Amber Arcades is the moniker of Dutch musician Annelotte de Graaf. Having written and recorded songs in a solo setting for some time, she flew out to New York in 2015 and teamed up with producer Ben Greenberg to record her debut album. The album sees de Graaf exploring a new set of influences, presenting floating pop melodies over mantric guitar lines and was released in June 2016.The swirling, steely songs on the debut are inspired by “time, continuity, coincidence and magic”, as well as early-morning jetlag (on ‘Turning Light’) and an artist’s plans for a utopian city (‘Constant’s Dream’). That may all sound pretty dreamy, and these songs do have wonderful ethereal qualities, but De Graaf’s dreams are not the whimsical kind. De Graaf’s dreams have led to her working as a legal aide on UN war crime tribunals, to inviting skint strangers to share her Utrecht squat, and to spending her life savings on a flight to New York because that’s where she wanted to record her first album.18+Tickets and more info on harleylive.co.uk
