Hi Gang.
Living in the USA, its really frustrating to read every week in the British papers about the lack of border control, and all the problems caused by the "illegals" .
We applied for immigration in 1988, and My wife's sister was already a US citizen . It took until the spring of 1995 for our application to be accepted !
The long delay was due to a "priority system" whereby a Doctor applying this week for instance, would jump to the top of the queue ahead of all the unqualified applicants.
Husbands , wife's, or sons /daughters of an American citizen were the exceptions.
Just giving you this background, as the President at the time,...Ronald Reagan, had passed an immigration law, that basically asked the question " Can you do a job that an American cant do ? " If yes,..in you come,..if not,...join the queue !
Wouldn't that still be a sensible way to look at all immigrants rights to enter the UK. ( legal & illegal )
Ahhhh, solving the worlds problems from a post on lovely old Clayton Vale,..dont you love it !
