On the whole I'm in favour of CCTV, at least they can catch people in the act and deny them the opportunity to say it wasn't them. I'm mindful too of how important they have been in tracing the movements of criminals and terrorists.
Having said that, if, as you point out Parky, nothing is done with the footage these camera's capture, then you have to wonder why bother?
Here in Australia they are currently testing face recognition technology embedded in the camera's so they can flag anyone who might be already known to police.
Some see this as the early stages of Big Brother, while others say...if you're not doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about. I'm still undecided on this. My gut instinct is to knock seven bells out of someone who wants to have a go, not that I've taken that particular option for many decades.
