Moss Side shooting

Ten people are in hospital after shots were fired in the Moss Side area of Manchester.

Police said victims suffered "minor to major injuries", which did not appear to be life-threatening.

Armed police were called to the shooting in Claremont Road at about 02:30 BST.

Several people were in the area after the first day of this weekend's Caribbean Carnival in Alexandra Park, Greater Manchester Police said.

I'm sure Andy Burnham will sort this out, he'll be gobbing off and blaming the Government as usual, but this sort of thing has gone on in that area for decades, in that time the different generations of the "yoof" there have tried to turn the area into a ghetto, selling drugs quite openly on the streets etc., after the riots in the eighties the council and Government directed millions of pounds into the area after it was practically destroyed by fire by the rioters, egged on by anarchists, but it doesn't seem to have done the trick.

Moss side I was once offered a row of terraced houses for 2000 pounds . Early 90s.

For the lot. The estate agent could not give them away.

However the areas changed a lot and this is not as serious as reported most of the victims are out of hospital.

And it was NOT machine gun or a high powered weapon it was a pellet gun. Very legally and sold in pound shops and air gun shops.

Think how this would of gone down if we had American gun laws.
The very same houses are now up over a 100 k each.

Just goes to show I missed an opportunity because I listened and believed people prejudices over areas .

1000s of people enjoyed them selves in Moss side peaceful and with incident  .just one idiot with a spud gun spoiled the fun.

The areas may have had issues in the past but the people there don't and should not be branded as a load of drug peddling low life scum.

If you want to see drug peddling just go into Manchester city center Piccadilly's garden or fountains what ever they call it now a days. I call it a zest pit.

You will be approached by white middle aged men selling you any drug you like.

Walk a little further and you will see the effects out side Primark you will see white drugged up to the hilt men and woman usually flat out zombie state or going through bins for dimps to make roll ups.

Something you do not see in Moss side is drugged up people going through bins .

Civilised people don't and won't put up with allowing this to happen. Why are the whites falling into drugs and being made homeless ,living off the streets . Searching through bins.

The fuzz are saying that the pellets may have come from a shotgun, a pretty nasty, indiscriminate weapon.

To be cc it wasnt just an isolated punch up a lot of people  needed hospital treatment , I’ll wager the police were reluctant to have officers in the area

This isn't the sort of incident which is preventable, someone obviously wanted to spoil the party atmosphere for whatever reason, who sells pellet guns and more interestingly who buys them - big kids?

It was after the carnival ,this was a late night street party. Some idiot from God knows where decided to spoil the atmosphere.

I'm just glad it was a spud gun and not something more deadly.

But you can see from the police response they are treating this as a firearm discharge and are hunting down the culprit.

It's OK folks Pat Karnage has popped up in the Moss, God knows why, is there no part of the City this idiot doesn't cover, reassuring the public that it's business as usual at the Carnival, it was just an idiot with possibly a shotgun or a pellet gun (although that sounds very vague to me, surely the firearms officers on scene could tell) so to be brief it's a case of nothing to see here apparently.
    What a Berk.    ::)

And it may well have been, but I wonder what level of co-operation they will receive from the community? After all there have been murders and gun attacks in that and the surrounding areas that have gone unsolved through lack of people coming forward  :-\
