Well Tom,  we aren't allowed out at the moment but thanks for reviving this topic, I'd forgotten all about it,  Old Manchester had a few good threads about the women you mean including the suffragettes.

I used to attend literary lunches but wouldn't know if they are still held,  there was a newspaper pamphlet called The Literary Guild which informed people when the lunches were held,  I went to one which included Lord Snowdon and Sir John Mills.
