Can anyone help me please. My grandma lived on Turners Street in Rusholme. I know it’s been knocked down and re built . My gran was re homed to moss side. This would be the early 1970’s.Can anyone tell where this would be now, so I can visit please. I remember her telling me about a butchers called Thurrells. My dad grew up around the corner but I don’t know the name. My grandad was a projectionist at a local cinema. My grandma was Edith Cunliffe.

Back in the 60s/70s Turner Street ran between Duke Street and Princess Street, running parallel to the north was Walmer Street and to the south Earl Street. The most local cinema would have been the Trocadero Cinema corner of Moor Street and Wilmslow Road or possibly the Casino Cinema on Wilmslow Road opposite Dickenson Road.
Today on Google Maps, a small car park on corner of "Stone place" is where the Trocadero was located. For Turner Street, locate approximately a car park to the rear of 'Rusholme Job Centre' or on the map, strike a line eastwards midway along Hibbert Street.
