If I could see a photo of the candidates I could probably pick out the one who would get the job and it would have nothing to do with qualifications  ;)

Andy Burnham refusing to answer questions about GMP being put into special measures at his press conference , why not that’s what you get paid for?  , if the journalist had any bottle they should all walk out of it .

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham should resign after the region's police force was placed in special measures, an MP has said.
Greater Manchester Police was placed into an "advanced phase" of monitoring on Thursday, after it failed to record 80,000 crimes in a year.
Conservative MP for Bolton West Chris Green said Mr Burnham, who oversees policing in the area, should step down.
The Labour mayor has not responded to the new steps by the police watchdog.

In a report last week, inspectors said GMP's service to victims of crime was a "serious cause of concern".
HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services said about 220 crimes a day went unrecorded in the year up to June 2020

Following the publication of the report Mr Burnham apologised on behalf of GMP.
He said: "I would like to say sorry to all of the victims of crime who have found that the service has not been good enough. We owe it to them to improve and we will and we will do it fast."

Former GMP detective Maggie Oliver, who resigned over the way grooming cases in Rochdale were handled by the force, said she and two ex-colleagues had a meeting with Mr Burnham in 2018 to highlight "serious concerns" and were "treated with contempt".
She said they gave him 26 examples of victims being failed by GMP, including "people dying as a result of gross neglect" and he "basically slammed the door in our face".
There was a "culture of arrogance and cover-ups" at the force, she said, and a "radical overhaul" was needed.
Inspectors found officers prematurely closed some cases without a full investigation, while the force did not properly record evidence that victims supported the decisions, particularly in cases of domestic abuse.

Pretty damning evidence from Maggie Oliver, a woman of integrity, sign her up to the chief constable gig, Burnham will undoubtedly refute her allegation, he knows he's Teflon because the sheeple of GM will renew his position at next years mayoral election, because of the apathy to this made up job voters won't turn out and that'll suit that oxygen thief, many people didn't want an elected mayor but seeing as we are lumbered with one maybe the least we can do is vote, let's not end up like the capital, you can see what Sad-dick has turned that place into a cesspit, having said that, have you seen the centre of Manchester lately?  ???

Inspector Clouseu of the Sûreté couldn't do a worse job either.  ;D
Lioyd?
PCC 2012-2017, including from 2015-2017 interim Mayor.
Ran for Mayor in 2017, we know who won that.
After failing to win he got his nose back in the Westminster trough, (Rochdale) jobs for the boys or what?
So yes he was around, remember prior he was MP for Manchester Central since 1997.

  • GMP chief constable, Ian Hopkins, had been signed off sick since last week
  • Home Office insider said Andy Burnham threw him 'under the bus to save skin'

180,000 crimes not investigated,  someone must have logged them to know that and did Tony Lloyd not know what wasn't being done!

At the end of March 2013, Lloyd published the Police and Crime Plan 2013–2016, setting his nine priorities for policing Greater Manchester. These were:
        Driving down crime
  • Building and strengthening partnerships
  • Tackling anti-social behaviour
  • Protecting vulnerable people
  • Putting victims at the centre
  • Maintaining public safety, dealing with civil emergencies and emerging threats
  • Dealing effectively with terrorism, serious crime and organised criminality
  • Building confidence in policing services
  • Protecting the police service
  •   The plan outlined Lloyd's vision "for all of us in Greater Manchester to work together to build the safest communities in Britain".

Doesn't seem he managed any of this, or I'd like to know which ones,
