Good Location for Starting Salary?
« on: 10:13:08, 18/04/21 »

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to move to Manchester as I have a job in the centre and my current commute is just over 60 mins (from Sandbach).

My salary is 17K (before tax) so I am trying to figure out if this is possible, or if it would be too much of a tight budget to work on. Obviously this restricts my monthly rent budget to around 500.

I am happy to house-share or live alone, I am 25 so whilst I don't want to be in student style digs, it would be nice to live somewhere with some sort of lively atmosphere.

I'm aware the city centre is way out of my price range, people have suggested Bury (Prestwich in particular) Eccles, Chorlton and Rusholme.

I guess what I'm asking is, is renting on 17K possible, and if so, which areas are best value for money and actually nice places to live. What would you recommend?

TIA! :)
