British teenager Emma Raducanu continued her fairytale run at the US Open by reaching the semi-finals with a dominant straight-set win over Swiss 11th seed Belinda Bencic.

Raducanu, 18, again showed all of her quality and composure in a 6-3 6-4 win.Victory means she will rise to the cusp of the world's top 50 and become the British women's number one.
Raducanu will play Czech fourth seed Karolina Pliskova or Greek 17th seed Maria Sakkari in Thursday's semis.

Emma Raducanu ended Britain's 44-year wait for a women's Grand Slam singles champion as she beat Leylah Fernandez to win the US Open in the most thrilling style.
The 18-year-old ended her scarcely believable run in New York with a 6-4 6-3 win over her 19-year-old Canadian opponent in a high-quality final.Raducanu threw herself to the floor in disbelief as she fired down an ace to conclude what has been the most remarkable journey.

Raducanu served for the match at 5-3 but cut her leg as she went break point down, leading to a medical time-out and a clearly irritated Fernandez expressing her frustration to the match official.

However, Raducanu shrugged off the delay, saving a further break point before closing out her third championship point.
The two shared a warm hug before Raducanu headed up the stairs at Arthur Ashe Stadium to celebrate with her support box.
Raducanu was cheered on by an emotional Virginia Wade, who was the last British woman to win a major trophy at Wimbledon in 1977.

She had to rouse the crowd who didn't cheer points won ,as much as the favorite Canadian, who kicked off because game was halted just as the Canadian made a comeback effort.
Raducan's knee really did need attention to stop the bleeding.

What a shame, certain 'celebs' and public figures have chosen to weaponise the young lady's achievement, there has been no mention of her ethnicity until she won the tournament as a UK citizen but now the usual suspects have crawled from under their stones in order to attack our country, it's inevitable that going forward that most times when Britain is represented in any competitive capacity that some of those who represent the country with be from groups not indigenous to these islands, so does that that mean that those of us who have ancestry going back centuries here cannot be happy for the individual achievements of the people who choose to come here and play their part?
The irony is that the likes of Lineker, Campbell and Khan are the real racists for pointing to the girls heritage, they're determined to keep people divided in the hope that somehow, one day, Brexit will be reversed and everyone will invite an illegal migrant into their home and we'll all sing Kumbaya, unfortunately for them the lives of us ordinary folk aren't reliant on what these rich cry babies have to say, we have legitimate concerns about allowing the dinghy divers to invade with impunity, us poor sods think in terms of housing, healthcare and education for our kids.

Raducanu is now a rich Celeb.   That's a lot for a 18 yr old to handle, especially overnight.

I for one am not influenced by the people you've mentioned St Chads,  Emma has shown such strength of character that it is the sort of thing she'd brush aside imo

Ha!  Emma has 'dumped' her coach Andrew Richardson,  she now needs someone who can help her join the higher ranking players!

Hope she is not being influenced in the decisions she makes now.

She was pictured on the news today going to play tennis with Kate (nee Middleton) who could face criticism for jumping on the bandwagon
by her detractors - of which I am not one btw,  it's Carole Middleton who I believe (if reports are true) that as soon as Prince William was announced to be going to St. Andrews university,  Kate, who was due to start at another university decided to enrol at St. Andrews :o
