Hi Maureen. Thanks for your reply. I have been researching my family history and the 1921 census release shows my Father age 7 and his Sister age 9 in the home. Both parents were alive so I can only assume they were put there because they were the youngest of 4 children and my Grandma couldn't cope with 4 of them. I have been trying to find out how long they were in there without much luck.

The taller building was St Joseph’s the Lower attached were cottages where th nuns lived, most of the children attended St Gilbert’s RC school as did the local children living nearby.

Andrew a little more info I have a photo taken way back about1917/18 of boys at the school known then as Holy Cross RC school, the Church nearby is Holy Cross but rebuilt in recent times. Some boys are named named also one a little later taken of boys at St Joseph’s also with some names. These photos had been snaps sent the local paper by old boys some years ago so it is copies from the paper that I have. If you would like to give me your father’s name maybe he is named on one of them.

Hi. Maureen. You said you have photos of the interior of St Josephs, are they room scenes? If they are could you send me copies. I have compiled a book on my family history, I have included the exterior photo of the home, so it would be nice to include photos of the interior.
as well. Best Regards. Andrew...
