A man who killed a grandfather with a single punch in his face in an unprovoked attack has been jailed.

Callum Crosbie, 23, was "looking for a fight" and hit Kevin Wood who had the "misfortune" of passing the Manchester bar on 20 November, a judge said.

Manchester Crown Court heard how Crosbie continued to look for a fight, even as Mr Wood, 60, who had recently recovered from cancer, lay dying.

Crosbie admitted manslaughter and was jailed for seven years.

Judge Anthony Cross QC said Crosbie, of Newcastle, was "determined to be involved in violence" on the evening of the attack.

Crosbie, fuelled by cocaine, alcohol and cannabis, lunged at security staff after they were thrown out of bar in the Printworks in Dantzic Street.

A fight involving Crosbie and co-defendants Alan Foster, 40, and Kevin Docherty, 41, also from Newcastle, ensued in the street as bouncers escorted them away.

The staff then formed a line across the entrance to prevent the group from re-entering.

The killer aged 23 years,  was accompanied by two men in their forties!

They should have been there to stop his aggression not to worsen it.

Disgraceful sentence ,he will be out in three years with good behaviour after serving out his sentence in a cushy jail close to his home so his relatives can visit , just remember the victim could have been anyone of us, also compare his sentence canoe man got for insurance fraud without hurting anyone

Agree,  the man (aged 64 years) who stalked Denise Welch got seven years and this one has killed,  there seems some disparity.

Why do men want to fight,  why do they purposely seek out someone to fight,  why do some men stalk women and in Denise Welch's case for long periods?

A police dog handler who throttled and punched a woman while trying to rape her in her home has been jailed.

Greater Manchester Police officer Ernesto Ceraldi attacked the woman after meeting her in a Rossendale pub in April, Preston Crown Court heard.

She tried to escape but he chased her while naked and continued attacking her until a neighbour intervened.

Admitting attempted rape and assault, the 44-year-old was sentenced to five years and four months in prison.

The court heard Ceraldi, who has since resigned from the force, met the woman on 1 April and was invited back to her home, where they drank wine and he showed her photographs of his police dog.#

In a statement, the woman said as Ceraldi had been a police officer, she "should have been able to trust him without a shadow of a doubt".

"If I cannot trust a police officer with 21 years of service, who can I trust?" she said.

Again, the sentence is not long enough,  the woman nearly stopped breathing due to the pressure the coward put on her neck.

He's made her afraid to go out and embarrassed his own family.
