Manchester Evening News
« on: 10:21:13, 15/08/23 »
For anyone interested, or perhaps not aware of it, the British Newspaper Archive has now added some of the more recent decades to its Manchester Evening News archive collection.  Previously it only covered the dates from its earliest years right up until about 1950, but now includes each decade from the 50's up to and including 1999.  There are currently some years still missing, but I've been informed by the BNA that these will soon be added to complete the collection.  If you wish to view or download pages, you do have to pay a subscription - either for 1 month or 12 months.

One Manchester area has been named as having one of the 'strongest' sellers' markets in the UK, according to recent data. A new study by property website Rightmove has revealed the 10 areas where demand is far outweighing supply, where any available homes are being swept off the market.
Chorlton, a suburb in south Manchester, has made the list as one of the top sellers' markets and is the only Greater Manchester area to be featured. The trendy area, which is popular with young professionals, is one of the most sought-after places to live with 74 percent of homes listed for sale this year having been marked as Sold Subject to Contract (SSTC), reports Rightmove.
