David Cameron has returned to the cabinet table for the first time in more than seven years on Tuesday after his recall to government.

Rishi Sunak met his new cabinet after a dramatic overhaul on Monday saw the former prime minister return to front-line politics.

He replaces James Cleverly, who was moved to be home secretary to take over from Suella Braverman.

Mrs Braverman was sacked following her criticism of the Metropolitan Police.

Greeting his new set of ministers, the prime minister said: "A warm welcome to those for whom it's their first cabinet and also a welcome to those for whom it may not be their first time."

Inflation has definitely peaked, says Iceland boss

Today's news has been welcomed by the executive chairman of Iceland, who spoke to BBC Radio 4's Today programme a little earlier.
Asked if he thought we we starting to see a sustained downward trend in inflation, Richard Walker answered: "Yeah, we've definitely peaked."
But he acknowledged that food prices are still going up year on year. Walker said his supermarket was "starting to pass on price savings as soon as we get them".

Sir Keir Starmer is attempting to put Labour's position on the Israel-Hamas conflict to a vote, in a bid to maintain party unity.

The party has tabled a Commons amendment reflecting concerns over the civilian death toll, and urging longer pauses in the fighting to deliver aid.

But it echoes the Labour leader's position, and stops short of urging an immediate ceasefire in the conflict.

Dozens of Labour MPs have defied their leader to call for a ceasefire.

And 19 members of the frontbench have also publicly diverged from their party's official position.
