That appears to be the Labour way - more and more tax, less and less in return.

Seems to be an abundance of money for foreign aid, Milliband's net zero obsession, Ukraine, and hotel bills for our guests from France.

It's my bet that all the above is festering with the British public.

Keir Starmer says the UK faces a "new threat" after the Southport murders, and that "terrorism has changed"
• He says the threat comes from "extreme violence carried out by loners, misfits, young  bedrooms"
• The prime minister also says the state's failure to prevent Axel Rudakubana's murders "leaps off the page" and the case should be a "line in the sand"
• Last night, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced a public inquiry into the murders - she's speaking now in the House of Commons, which you can watch live above
• Rudakubana, 18, pleaded guilty to murdering three girls in a knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class last year
• Rudakubana also admitted 10 attempted murders, the production of ricin, and possession of a terrorist document - namely a PDF file titled Military Studies in the Jihad against Tyrants: The Al-Qaeda Training Manual
• After he pleaded guilty, Rudakubana's long history of violence emerged

I watched Trump being inaugurated yesterday and was very impressed with the ceremony and Donald's speech, the mood there was euphoric, a true leader inspiring his people, absolutely brilliant.

And then,
This morning I watched that lily livered chinless [censored] Sneer bore the crap out of us and dodge questions, he makes me sick, he's a disgrace, an embarrassment, he's a laughing stock here and abroad.

God bless America and God help us.

People trying to buy knives online will face tougher measures to prove their age under new restrictions being brought forward in the wake of the Southport knife attack.
Axel Rudakubana, who has admitted murdering three young girls last July, bought a knife from Amazon when he was just 17, despite existing laws which prohibit the sale of most knives to under-18s.
Online retailers will be forced to ask anyone buying a knife for two types of identification under government plans, with buyers asked to submit an identity document, such as a passport, and record a live video to prove their age.
Amazon has said it takes its "responsibility around the sale of all age-restricted items - including bladed products - extremely seriously" and has launched an investigation.

Tensions over when to make Southport details public.

President Donald Trump has urged Russia's Vladimir Putin to make a deal to end the "ridiculous" Ukraine war or face new tariffs and sanctions
• In a social media post, he said he had a good relationship with his Russian counterpart but if a deal was not made soon he would impose fresh economic penalties
• Meanwhile, all refugees' travel to the US is being suspended, following an executive order from Donald Trump
• It means refugees with permission to enter the US will not be allowed in, and the processing of new cases is suspended
• The executive order on Monday said "the US has been inundated with record levels of migration, including through the US Refugee Admissions Program"
• Federal agencies earlier put diversity staff on paid leave "immediately" - specifically by 17:00 local time (22:00 GMT) today
• After his inauguration on Monday, the president signed a flurry of executive actions - here's a summary.

Up to 10,000 troops could be sent to the US-Mexico border as part of Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, an internal memo suggests.
• The US president has already ordered 1,500 troops to the border to install barriers -a military source says they won't be involved in "law enforcement"
• In his first interview since returning to the White House, downplays the threat of TikTok being used by the Chinese government to spy on users

Axel Rudakubana has been sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in jail for the murder of three girls at a dance class in Southport, and the attempted murder of 10 other people
• The judge says it's highly unlikely Rudakubana will ever be released.
• Footage of Rudakubana's taxi journey in July to the scene of the attacks has been released.
• Earlier, the court heard harrowing details of the attack, including how an instructor told the children to run away, and how a local man was injured as he tried to help
• Dance instructor Leanne Lucas was stabbed five times - in a statement in court, she told the victims: "I'm surviving for you"
• While in custody after the attacks, Rudakubana said: I don't care, I'm feeling neutral.. literally, such a good thing those kids are dead"
• Rudakubana pleaded guilty on Monday to the murders of Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9, and Bebe King, 6
• He also admitted producing ricin, possessing terrorist material, and possessing a knife
