Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo are among those missing after a British yacht sank in Sicily
• British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah are also missing
• The yacht sank in bad weather in the early hours of Monday - 15 were rescued, six are missing, and a man's body has been recovered
• The body has not been formally identified, but the Palermo coastguard said it was the ship's cook
• The search is continuing on Tuesday - access to the boat's cabins has been blocked by furniture
• Separately, it has emerged that Mike Lynch's co-defendant in a recent major legal case, Stephen Chamberlain, died on Saturday in a road accident.

• Four bodies have been brought to shore from the wreckage of the luxury British yacht that sank off Sicily

• A fifth body has been found inside the boat, authorities tell the BBC
• Six people were missing after the yacht sank on Monday - the recovered have not been identified
• One body - that of Recaldo Thomas, the yacht's chef - was recovered from the sea on Monday
• Earlier, the brother of James Cutfield, the captain, said his sibling was a "respected" sailor with years of experience on luxury yachts
• Cutfield, a 51-year-old from New Zealand, is recovering in hospital with his wife by his side

Students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will receive GCSE, BTec Tech Awards and other level 2 qualifications on Thursday.
It is the first year that GCSE grades are expected to be similar to 2019 across all three nations.

It follows a growth in the percentage of passes in 2020 and 2021, when exams were cancelled because of Covid, and a phased effort to bring them back down.
Last year, fewer passes in English and maths GCSE exams meant more students in England needed to resit.

SummaryRussia and China have vetoed a US draft resolution that tied an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to the release of hostages held by Hamas
• It was the first time the US has supported calls for an immediate ceasefire in the region, having previously blocked such demands at the UN
• Netanyahu says Israel plans to launch a ground offensive in Rafah with or without US support, as he meets the US secretary of state Antony Blinken in Israel
• But Blinken, who is in the Middle East to discuss a post-war plan to govern and secure Gaza, says a ground operation in Rafah risks killing more civilians
• A UN-backed food security assessment this week said 1.1 million people in Gaza were struggling with catastrophic hunger and starvation
• Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October, killing about 1,200 people and taking 253 others hostage
• Hamas says more than 31,900 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its retaliatory offensive to eliminate Hamas

Lots of tosh by the media who know nothing about boats.
The boat should have had, built in boyancy[unsinkable] the ability to suffer a knockdown,
[on it's side] to right itself after a 360 rollover. Thorough testing from drawingboard, tank then sea.
BUT did it,? surely insurance wouldn't be possible without it.
Passengers should be safe, asleep in their bunks.
It doesn't seem a safe anchorage for small boats,20 odd waterspouts the same day.
Why weren't more boats lost?.

GB News covered the little girls funeral in Southport this morning.
The full service and the coffin draped in a pastel-shaded sheet.
The hearse leaving was'nt shown, which for me would have been too much,so sad.
A Taylor song finished the service, the as the family left.

• Sir Keir Starmer is set to warn that "things will get worse" in the UK before they get better.
In a speech on Tuesday, the prime minister is likely to say there are no quick fixes to remedy what he will call the "rubble and ruin" left by the Conservatives.
He will also continue to argue that the last government concealed the true state of the public finances.
But, the Conservatives have accused Labour of "fabricating" a financial black hole to clear the way for tax rises - and have called for Starmer to reverse his chancellor’s cuts to winter fuel payments, arguing these would leave pensioners in the cold.

Marking a week before Parliament returns from a shortened summer recess, the PM is expected to use the speech to ramp up attacks on the inheritance left by the Conservatives.
He will say: "We have inherited not just an economic black hole but a societal black hole. And that is why we have to take action and do things differently.
"Part of that is being honest with people - about the choices we face. And how tough this will be.
"Frankly - things will get worse before we get better."

It's a win win for Starmer.  If things do get worse as he's predicting, he'll say "there you go, I was right all along" and then continue to blame the Tories.  However if things do NOT get worse and we start seeing immediate improvements instead, he'll claim the credit and say that it's all thanks to his sound management of the economy.

UK: Man carrying multiple knives and Qur’an tries to stab random people in Clerkenwell area of London

No media coverage whatsoever. Why, news of this kind could spoil the UK’s celebrations of diversity, and make people wonder why Dee Stitt and others like him are in prison.
