Events are taking place in France and the UK to mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion of France


  • US President Joe Biden and King Charles III are among world leaders attending ceremonies
  • Five years ago, 225 veterans travelled to Normandy for commemorations – this year there were 23
  • On 6 June 1944, tens of thousands of soldiers landed on five beaches in Normandy, northern France
  • Commemorations are also taking place at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire for UK veterans unable to return to France

    A humbling Pilgrimage. I notice some new buildings and the new Memorial shown today.
    So glad I went when able.
    Politicians and nappies must be changed often,and for the same reason
